What Is Cubic Zirconia? by Almost Diamonds

Have you ever wanted a beautiful diamond but couldn't afford it? A cubic zirconia is almost identical to a diamond, but much cheaper. Much like diamonds, the cubic zirconia may be cut into many shapes, and are often mistaken for diamonds. A cubic zirconia set in gold, or fine silver always looks dazzling. The nice part of owning cubic zirconia jewelry is that it is very affordable. For this reason, cubic zirconia has become a popular jewelry used in every day wear for events such as work, weddings, or even out on the town. Cubic zirconia is made into rings, earrings, bracelet, necklaces, broaches, charms, body jewelry and many more. CZs are easy to get because the cubic zirconias are created in concentrated laboratories for the growth of crystals.

A cubic zirconia may be made to resemble the fancy diamonds seen today on many celebrities. This created a phenomenal interest in celebrity inspired and designer inspired jewelry. These inspired jewelry are so similar to the real thing, that it's difficult to tell them apart. Jewelry made with cubic zirconia is absolutely beautiful, but much more affordable than its diamond counterpart. It is sometimes hard to distinguish the difference between a cubic zirconia and a real diamond. What are the differences between a cubic zirconia and a real diamond?

* Cubic zirconias have less sparkle than a diamond, but they have more fire.

* Hardness. CZ has an 8.3 on the Mohs' hardness scale vs. a rating of 10 for diamonds.

* Specific gravity. CZs are heavyweights in comparison to diamonds; a CZ will weigh about 1.7 times more than a diamond of equivalent size. Obviously, this difference is only useful when examining loose stones.

* Flaws. Contemporary production of cubic zirconia is virtually flawless, whereas most diamonds have some sort of defect.

Cubic Zirconia gives you the look of diamonds without the high cost. We offer a large selection of cubic zirconia jewelry, including cubic zirconia rings, at an affordable price. All of our jewelry is made from fine quality 925 sterling silver and 14k gold.
